COMPETITION
The ISFFL is first and foremost an important national and international film talent scouting event and therefore the Flemish and European Competition take a prominent place in the festival. An overview of the Award that are handed out at the Closing Event, all together for an amount of approximately 225.000 (!) euros:

AWARD CEREMONY

On Saturday 5th December at 20 pm the official end of 15th edition of the ISFFL will be celebrated at the Award Ceremony, the grand final so to speak where the Jury and Audience Awards will be handed out. The complete winning films will be screened. The Award Ceremony will be attended by the press, jury, directors and producers of all nominated films, but also festival visitors can join in, as a few seats are available you, our most respected audience. Be fast if you want to be there. A ticket give access to the ceremony as well as the screenings of the winning films afterwards.

JURY FOR THE BEST FLEMISH LIVE ACTION SHORT

Patrice Toye
juryIn 1990, Patrice Toye graduated as a director from Sint-Lukas College Brussels. She made many short films, documentaries and television productions. In 1998, her debut film Rosie came out. In 2005, the television film Gezocht: man came out. Her second feature film (N)iemand (Nowhere Man) appeared in theatres in 2008.

Koen De Graeve
juryIn 1995, Koen De Graeve graduated from Studio Herman Teirlinck and was from that moment onwards mostly active in theatre. The last few years, he appeared more often in television series (for example Van Vlees en Bloed, Jes, …) and Flemish feature films as Los, Dagen Zonder Lief (With Friends Like These), Loft and more recently De Helaasheid Der Dingen (The Misfortunates).

Dave Mestdach
juryDave Mestach graduated in 1998 as Master in History of Arts at the University of Ghent with an essay on Ingmar Bergman. He then worked as a freelance film journalist en film reviewer for national magazines and papers such as Trends, De Standaard, Deng and Film & Television. Since 2005 he reviews for Focus Knack Magazine. Co-founder of the arts collective Senior Citizens.

Anja Daelemans
juryGraduated as director but soon found her way as film and television producer with her own company, Another Dimension of an Idea. Produced a.o. two Oscar nomineed shorts: Fait D’Hiver and Tanghi Argentini.

Renaat Lambeets
juryRenaat Lambeets in one of Flanders most active camera operators and DOPs. Active in commercials as well as music videos, feature films, documentaries and short films he was responsible for gems like Any Way the Wind Blows, Soeur Sourire or the big tv channel Eén hit Van Vlees en Bloed. Next to that he worked on quite a few short films like Charlotje and Brod Ludaka.

 

 


JURY FOR BEST EUROPEAN LIVE ACTION SHORT

Philippe De Schepper
Philippe De Schepper is a Flemish screenwriter and producer. He graduated from the RITS film school in 1996 as a director and took many screenwriting courses later on. He was part of the “writers room” of Bones and 24, and was the screenwriter and executive producer of both the feature film and the television series Vermist (Missing). Furthermore, he is administrator of the Screenwriter’s guild.

Henk Cluytens
juryHenk Cluytens started his career at the Foundation for the Promotion of Art. Afterwards he was responsible for the programming of Studio Film Theatres (with theatres in 4 cities in Flanders, among which Leuven). In between, he was also involved in the programming of the Brussels Film Festival. Earlier this year, he moved on to distribution, at the newly established O’Brother Distribution.

Jane Waltman (NL)
juryJane Waltman is a painter and a writer born in Australia, operating from Amsterdam. Together with director Joost Ranzijn, she made a series of short films. In 1989, their first feature film, Han De Wit, followed. Of all these films, Waltman was co-writer as well as producer and helped editing. Today, she mainly works as a screenwriter.

Richard Jobson (UK)
juryRichard Jobson is a Scottish film maker and television host. At the end of the 1970s, he caused a furore as the singer of punk group The Skids, after which he started a TV and film career. He wrote and directed Sixteen Years of Alcohol, The Purifiers and A Woman in Winter. His most recent film is New Town Killers.

Wolfgang Pielmeier (AT)
juryWolfgang Pielmeier, born 1984 in Regensburg (Germany), moved to Vienna to study theatre, film and media sciences and is currently writing his thesis about 3D-Movies. Since 2005 he is a member of the “VIS Vienna Independent Shorts” film festival. When not living in cinemas, he is busy as filmmaker and photographer or visiting international film festivals.
