FESTIVALCAFÉ

During the ISFFL, STUKcafé is transformed into the festival café: the meeting place par excellence and operating base for your ISFFL visit. Not only can you go there for a refreshing beer or a warming coffee before and after the film, recently also pasta and soup were put on the menu. But there is more: in the evening, the festival café functions as a hall of projection (for the screening of the music video competition) and as the stage for many promising bands, DJs and VJs.


OPTREDEN: JAZZ OP ZONDAG (ZON 29/11)
Jazz op Zondag is al vele jaren een wekelijkse traditie in STUKcafé. En ook tijdens het IKL is zondagavond jazzavond.
LIVE VJ & DJ PERFORMANCE: OH YES (Max Hattler & Noriko Okaku) (MA 30/11)
Audiovisueel kunstenaar Max Hattler is een festivalbekende. Verschillende van zijn videowerken, o.m. Drift en Collision waren te zien in de Labo-secties van voorbije festivaledities. Max Hattler is opnieuw te gast op het IKL, ditmaal in levende lijve! Samen met Noriko Okaku brengt hij “Oh Yes” (een acroniem van Okaku Hattler Youtube Entertainment System): een mix van muziek en live visuals. Er werd vertrokken van viral found footage, in dit geval beelden die van You Tube werden geplukt. “Oh Yes” is een kleurrijke meditatie over beweging, lichaam en popcultuur.
 
 
OPTREDEN: THE FLYING HORSEMAN (WOE 2/12)
Met The Flying Horseman brengt zanger-gitarist Bert Dockx bezwerende, bluesy songs met zwarte randen. Of: ritualistische rootsmuziek op zoek naar een altaar en een biechtstoel. Ook wel: laag-bij-de-grondse folk met ijle boventonen.
OPTREDEN: GRANT MOFF TARKIN (DON 3/12)
Een eclectische mix van folk, blues en indie rock, met een stevige scheut Americana. In 2005 verscheen de ep Age Old Moods, vorig jaar verscheen de eerste full cd Quanah’s Hunting Day. Gitaren en primitieve perscussie ondersteunen de soms surrealistische teksten van het front-duo Jullax en Huddie. Website.
OPTREDEN: BUTTON & SHEPARDS (DIN 1/12)

Button & Shepards speelt indie maar niemand zou een traan laten mocht u hen bestempelen als een postrockband. Ijle gitaren, een hele hoop delay en samenzang. We zien u graag terug met gesloten ogen en tappende voet op de eerste rij.

MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION

For more than a decade now, the ISFFL puts the music video in the spotlight. In some way, they are only promo films for artists, but actually they are so much more. Many videos are creative works of art, extensions of the musical work, produced most of the time with a low budget, but fortunately with much inspiration and craftsmanship. The ISFFL selected 15 music videos produced in the last 12 months and focuses on clips with a strong cinematography and strong ideas. In short, music videos that lift the genre to a higher level and grants it a well-deserved place at the film festival.
